Excursion to the 2002 craters

3 hours
Tue, Thu, Sat
Easy

The meeting point is at Piano Provenzana- North Etna (1800m.) where, after reporting for the trek and having your booking checked, our adventure will begin along an easy trail that unwinds towards the lava flow of 2002. Passing through a splendid beech wood, we’ll reach the bottom of the craters from which the most important eruption in the last few decades on the northern side of the volcano spouted forth. We will cross the lava flow spilled from these lateral craters along a striking path that skirts the lava channel; a deep canyon cut out of the enormous magma mass that invaded and partially destroyed the centuries-old Ragabo Pine Forest. We’ll set off in the direction of the 1923 fracture and follow it part of the way, before continuing towards the volcanic cones of 2022, skirting the perimeter to begin our descent towards Piano Provenzana.

The price includes:

Certified Guide; Hiking shoes; Trekking poles; Helmet
